In this meeting Dr. Najafi and Dr. Zamani had talks about holding the CINVU general Assembly hosted by Payame Noor University on September 24, 2018 citing that the CINVU offers an exceptional opportunity for our national universities to develop and expand. Dr. Zamani expressed his delight by ongoing activities by CINVU and promised full support for its general assembly holding reaching its objectives. As of now more than 15 countries have registered to attend the CINVU General assembly on Sep. 24, 2018.
In this meeting, while introducing network capacities, Mr. Sadoogh was invited to attend the General Assembly on September 24, 2018 and to join the network. Dr. Sadooq also expressed his happiness with the membership in the network and full cooperation in achieving its goals, he described the network as an important opportunity in advancement of scientific and technological goals of the Islamic world.
In this meeting Dr. Karim Najafi, while introducing network capacities in various fields, highlighted the important points building the capabilities of national virtual universities for effective communication with virtual universities in the world of Islam and other leading countries in order to create a platform to attract students and provide services to students, professors, researchers and universities. He added, universities with capacities like what Payame Noor has such as Tehran, Tarbiat Modares, Sharif, Amir Kabir, Shahid Beheshti, Almustafa, Jundishapour and other universities could be considered as our national focal points in this network to make strategic connections with virtual universities in the world of Islam in field of intelligent technologies. Dr. Sheikh Attar in return, presented a report on activities in the field of virtual education at Islamic Azad University and announced that IAU is ready to join this network and to participate in its various projects. It is noteworthy that Islamic Azad University with its 400 virtual courses and several international branches is among the leading universities in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Payame Noor University

PNU was established in 1988 as a unique ODL institution in the country after having integrated the University of Abureihane Birouni and Iran Free University. The degrees it awards are all recognized and have the same status as those of other state universities. PNU took its first intake in five degree programs at 28 study centers. In addition to admit student through passing the National Entrance Examination held annually by the National Organization for Educational Testing, the university launched encompassing degree programs to admit students through an acceptable GPA. Presently, PNU has 502 local study centers and campuses which are scattered throughout the country and administered by 31 provincial centers. It has also an Office of the Coordinating and Planning of the International Study Centers located in the university headquarters in Tehran. PNU has about 3,148 faculty members and 940,515 students.
