Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has congratulated Christians in Iran and around the world and Leader of the World Catholic Church, Pope Francis, on the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and on the occasion of the Christian New Year, reported CINVU.
“On the threshold of the new Christian year, I urge all freethinking and peace-loving people to fraternity and friendship, and hope the year 2015 will be a year replete with happiness and welfare for all people of the world,” the president said in a congratulatory message.
"By proposing the idea of the World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) that was unanimously approved at the UN General Assembly, the Islamic Republic of Iran has tried to take a step on this path and it is still ready to continue its efforts until achieving the ultimate and desired goal," President Rouhani added. The Iranian president hoped for continued health, success, happiness and prosperity for the pope and all followers of the Jesus Christ in the world.
Christmas is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed cultural holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by millions of people around the world.
