The academic representatives of Islamic countries have entrusted the chairmanship of the CINVU Executive Committee to Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan for two years.

According to the CINVU Public Relations Report, based on the official minutes and approvals of the Fourth General Assembly of CINVU and the anticipated approach in the statute and regulations of the Executive Committee, Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan has been appointed to lead the CINVU Executive Committee for the years 2025 to 2027.

According to this report, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Vice-Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan, will represent this university in chairing the CINVU Executive Committee. He completed his PhD in Educational Psychology from Gakugei University in Japan and his postdoctoral studies in Science Education from the University of Leeds in the UK. Dr. Nasir Mahmood has also been active in various educational and academic fields.

Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan is considered one of the pioneering universities in distance and blended learning worldwide. With nearly five decades of educational, research, and knowledge-based activities, the university has been able to provide easy access to higher education for all citizens, especially in underserved and remote areas, based on its fundamental approach. The chancellorship of Allama Iqbal Open University of Pakistan is held by the President of Pakistan.

Notably, the COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (CINVU) is an international educational, research, knowledge-based, and technology network affiliated with the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH), which is hosted by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
